Ciudad Amurallada Cartagena is a very dynamic city and popular destination in Colombia. A modern skyline provides a stark contrast to the narrow streets and alleyways of the old walled city. A short distance outside the walls of the old city is the historic barrio Getsemani. In this area vendors toting fruit and vegetable carts can often be found. This particular vendor was selling avocado’s which in Spanish is aguacate.
Place of Cheetas At the foothills of the Drankenberg Mountains lies the municipality of Manguang. This is a recording taken there during a celebration of life, or funeral. Loved ones and friends can be heard chanting and singing gospel songs to honor the deceased memory.

It is an area that has become famous for its organic coffee, and travelers can visit local farms to get a demonstration of the artisan roasting process, without the use of modern machinery.

It hosts a wide variety of rare species including Lemurs, but the birds and tree frogs are the most vocal inhabitants during the day.
Alina Ranomafana is a national park in Madagascar dedicated to conserving the unique biodiversity of the island. Over 80% of plants and animal species are endemic and found nowhere else on the planet. The park is known for its variety of Lemur species, but is also home to over 130 species of frog. Some of these frogs are at their most vocal after the sun goes down for the day.
Cuculus Rochii Isalo is a national park located in southwestern Madagascar. The sandstone landscape is home to over 100 species of bird including the Madagascan Cuckoo. Although these birds can be found in other countries on the African continent, they only breed in Madagascar.
Reef Mangily is a small village located on the southwestern coast of Madagascar. Located about 30 km north of Toliara, it was originally a fishing village, but now attracts tourists to the great reef which is the 5th longest reef in the world. This early morning sound captures the local birds and the waves crashing into the massive reef offshore.
The Citizens Cape Town City FC is a football club based in Cape Town that plays in the Premier Soccer League. The original club dates back to the 1960’s, but current team was formed in 2016. They play their games in Cape Town Stadium and this match in 2019 contained a small, but very spirited crowd.
Local Bamboo The Valiha is a Tube Zither from Madagascar that is made from a local species of bamboo. The name Valiah is also used to describe a number of related zithers of differing shapes and materials. It is considered the national instrument of Madagascar and this is a recording of a young man demonstrating his technique while vending instruments.
Reserve Kruger is a large national park and game reserve in South Africa. It is well-known for its large mammals, but the park also hosts a wide variety of birdlife. There are over 500 species of birds that either live or pass through the park and many are active in the morning when this recording occurred.
