French Polynesia
Tahiti is located in the Society Islands archipelago of the southern Pacific Ocean. It is the largest and most populous island of French Polynesia. The island is famous for its black sand beaches, which are made of tiny pieces of lava from nearby volcanoes. North of the capital city of Papeete, the sand of Lafayette Beach is so soft in places that visitors can sink knee-deep into the sand. This sound was recorded after sundown.
