Assi Ghat
Located on the banks of the Ganges, the ghats in Varanasi are stairs that lead down to the river. The city has 88 ghats that are used for different purposes and ceremonies. Assi Ghat is the southernmost ghat and each morning a ceremony occurs there as the sun rises. The female students chant sanskrit mantras as a way to pay homage and respect to the sun.
