National Seashore
Encompassing nearly 40 miles of the Atlantic coast, the Cape Cod National Seashore was created in 1961 to preserve the unique ecosystem of the outer cape. Containing both fresh and saltwater ponds, pine barrens, and numerous marshes, the National Seashore was the first National Park to use public monies to buy private land holdings.
